Trump winning in 2024 could be end of US democracy: Hillary Clinton
Former US State Secretary Hillary Clinton warns against former US President Donald Trump winning a second term.
Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed her concern over former US President Donald Trump's intention to run for the 2024 election. A second term would make his tumultuous first four years in the White House seem like child’s play, she warned.
"If I were a betting person, I'd say Trump is going to run again," Clinton told MSNBC Thursday. "If he's not held accountable and he gets to do it again, I think that could be the end of our democracy."
The former secretary of state warned that allowing Trump to regain power would be an "unprecedented disaster for the US."
The former Democrat presidential nominee said she felt guilty about botching the chance to keep Trump out of the White House. "I feel terrible about not stopping him and the people around him," she said.
Clinton saw that her Electoral College defeat was caused by the "stunt pulled by Jim Comey," meaning the former FBI director's October surprise letter about the investigation into her emails, which may have caused a last-minute decrease in her support.
The former Secretary of State also warned voters in 2024 not to underestimate him. "They turned out and voted for him," she said. "And he's trying to get it set up for him so that can happen again for him."
