"Whoever relies upon a power other than God, the result will be obvious, an example of which is Ukraine," the IRGC Navy Commander said.

IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri on Saturday commented on the recent meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, describing the encounter as a clear example of the consequences of placing one's trust in foreign powers.
Addressing reporters, Tangsiri referenced the tense exchange at the White House, where Trump and Vice President JD Vance accused Zelensky of showing a lack of gratitude for US assistance.
The meeting, which was intended to discuss military support and resource agreements, ended abruptly, with Zelensky departing after a heated discussion. Following the encounter, Trump took to Truth Social to state that the Ukrainian leader was not "ready for peace if America is involved."
Tangsiri remarked that this incident exemplifies the dangers of reliance on external powers, particularly those that have demonstrated unreliability in international affairs. "Whoever relies upon a power other than God, the result will be obvious, an example of which is Ukraine," he stated.
The IRGC Navy chief also drew parallels with Iraq, asserting that US intervention in the country had not led to development, reinforcing Iran's long-standing stance that regional nations should prioritize self-sufficiency rather than dependency on Washington.
"When Trump holds such a view about a half-European country (Ukraine), then it is obvious what his behavior towards Muslim countries will be like," Tangsiri added.

His remarks come amid growing uncertainty about the future of US military assistance to Ukraine, as Trump has signaled a potential reduction in support. European leaders have since reiterated their backing for Ukraine, with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz affirming that "Ukraine can rely on Germany—and on Europe." Meanwhile, Russian officials have responded positively to the apparent discord between Washington and Kiev.
Tangsiri concluded by stating that Iran must work toward economic self-reliance to address its domestic challenges, reiterating the belief that dependency on foreign nations carries significant risks.
