Turkey arrests 2 suspected of New Year terror plot: Reports

Turkish Police arrested two alleged members of ISIS suspected of planning holiday terror attacks in Istanbul, as per the Turkish newspaper Sabah.
The two suspects in the incident, who are reportedly Uzbek and Tajik citizens, attempted to flee police in the Istanbul neighborhood of Basaksehir a few hours before New Year's Eve.
One of the suspects, an accused explosives expert from Tajikistan, was arrested, and a deportation procedure was initiated against the Uzbek citizen.
The alleged militants got instructions from IS in Afghanistan and planned a "bloody" terrorist strike using explosives, as per the report.
Turkey has lately experienced numerous terror attacks. On December 16, eight Turkish police officers were injured after a bomb went off in a roadside vehicle while their minibus was traveling on a highway in the province of Diyarbakir in the country's southeast.
Last November, a strong explosion was heard in a busy area in the heart of Istanbul. At the time, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the explosion in Istanbul left six people dead and 53 injured.
