Turkey Foreign Minister visits to Iran to discuss regional issues
The talks are expected to cover a range of topics, including bilateral cooperation, regional stability, and global concerns.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to visit Iran on September 3 at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
The aim of the visit is to discuss the prospects of bilateral cooperation development and exchange views on regional and global issues, Ankara said.
"H.E. Mr. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, will pay a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran on September 3, 2023, upon the invitation of H.E. Mr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
During his visit, Fidan will hold high-level meetings in Tehran. This visit provides an opportunity to discuss the "possibilities for further advancing our bilateral cooperation in all fields" and exchange views on current regional and international developments, as per the statement.
Back in June, Amir-Abdollahian called newly-appointed Turkish Foreign Hakan Fidan to congratulate him on his post in Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's freshly-formed cabinet.
At the time, Amir-Abdollahian invited Fidan to visit Tehran, stressing the need for the expediting of the development of bilateral ties.
It is worth noting that Erdogan has repeatedly expressed Ankara's desire for further regional cooperation making reference to the quadrilateral cooperation of Turkey, Iran, Syria, and Russia.
