Turkish FM Hakan Fidan meets Hamas Poliburo Chief Ismail Haniyeh
In April, Haniyeh said that Hamas wants to see Turkey, alongside Egypt, Qatar, and Russia, among the guarantors of security for the Gaza Strip.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Sunday said that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Ismail Haniyeh, the chief of the political bureau of the Palestinian movement Hamas, in Doha.
"Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan met with Ismail Haniyeh, Head of the Hamas Political Bureau, on the margins of the Sixth Ministerial Meeting of the Turkiye-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) High-Level Strategic Dialogue, in Doha," the ministry said on X.

During their meeting, the two discussed the latest developments in the war on Gaza and measures to further isolate "Israel".
The head of the politburo of the Resistance movement Hamas made a comprehensive review of recent developments aimed at stopping the Israeli aggression on Gaza. He further touched upon the massive massacre in the Nuseirat refugee camp that claimed the lives of at least 210 people.
According to Haniyeh, the massacre confirms that the movement's demands are justified when it asserts that any agreement must include a permanent ceasefire and a complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
The Turkish diplomat, on his part, conveyed condolences for the martyrs of Palestine and the martyrs of the Nuseirat massacre. He outlined Turkish diplomatic efforts to support ceasefire efforts and the rights of the Palestinian people, including a session held by the Developing Eight (D8), which effectively addressed the war on Gaza.
Fidan reaffirmed Turkey's position in considering Hamas as a legitimate movement of national liberation and said that his country will continue its political and diplomatic efforts, whether through the Turkish-Gulf meeting or the BRICS group and other international platforms or through bilateral relations, to stop the war and secure the rights of the Palestinian people.
