Israeli airstrikes targeted eastern Lebanon on Thursday, resulting in the martyrdom of two individuals and injuring students in the Bekaa region, local sources reported.
According to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in the area, the strikes struck the outskirts of Shmestar, where the Israeli warplanes carried out a series of strikes on the surrounding highlands west of Baalbek.
The bombardment shattered windows, injuring several students at a local school.
Later, in the evening, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that two people were killed and four others were injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the town of Arabsalim in Nabatieh Governorate, South Lebanon. An agricultural area amid a populated residential neighborhood was the target of the attack.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education condemned the Israeli attacks near Shmestar Public High School and Tariya High School in the Baalbek district. The ministry called on governments worldwide to exert pressure to halt the persistent Israeli aggression, emphasizing that the attacks endanger schools and civilians, leaving martyrs and wounded, while terrorizing local communities.
Separately, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent confirmed that Israeli strikes also hit the outskirts of Nabi Sheet, near the Lebanese-Syrian border, as part of the ongoing aerial aggression on eastern Lebanon.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, at the start of the Cabinet session, condemned the Israeli attacks on Lebanon and affirmed that he was following developments with the concerned countries and the Mechanism Committee, our correspondent reported, adding that the president did not address the issue of negotiations with "Israel" during the session.
Israeli drone strike kills a civilian in Ain Qana, South Lebanon
On Wednesday, an Israeli drone strike in Ain Qana killed one civilian, adding another attack to the series of strikes that contravene the November 27, 2024, ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and "Israel".
In the previous days, multiple Israeli drones and reconnaissance aircraft violated Lebanese airspace over Beirut and its Southern Suburb at low altitudes. Reports indicate that drones circled near the presidential palace in Baabda, the most sustained aerial activity over the capital since the November 2024 ceasefire.
On October 20, Israeli warplanes conducted air raids on the outskirts of Jarmaq and al-Mahmoudiyah. Israeli occupation forces stationed at the al-Summaqah outpost fired toward the outskirts of Kfar Chouba before launching an artillery shell into the same area.
Repeated Israeli attacks, extending across southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and Beirut’s Southern Suburb, have resulted in dozens of casualties and significant damage to civilian infrastructure. Since the ceasefire in November 2024, over 270 Lebanese civilians have been killed in Israeli strikes.

UNIFIL condemns Israeli attacks
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and other international observers have condemned the strikes, warning that continued Israeli violations risk escalating tensions and destabilizing the region. The UN and humanitarian organizations have urged "Israel" to comply with international law and respect Lebanese territorial integrity.
On October 12, UNIFIL condemned a second grenade attack by the Israeli occupation on its peacekeepers this month, calling it a serious violation of international agreements and a direct threat to UN personnel operating under a Security Council mandate.
In an official statement, the force reported that just before noon on Saturday, an Israeli drone dropped a grenade that exploded near a UN position in Kfar Kila, a town along the Lebanese-Palestinian border. One peacekeeper sustained light injuries and was provided with immediate medical assistance.
The mission said that two drones were observed flying near the position shortly before the grenade was dropped. "This is the second IDF grenade attack on peacekeepers this month," the statement read, describing the incident as a "serious violation" of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which underpins the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and the Israeli regime.
