The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has condemned a second grenade attack by the Israeli occupation on its peacekeepers this month, calling it a serious violation of international agreements and a direct threat to UN personnel operating under a Security Council mandate.
In an official statement, UNIFIL reported that just before noon on Saturday, an Israeli drone dropped a grenade that exploded near a UN position in Kfar Kila, a town along the Lebanese-Palestinian border. One peacekeeper sustained light injuries and was provided with immediate medical assistance.

Just before noon yesterday, an Israeli drone dropped a grenade that exploded near a UNIFIL position in Kafer Kela. One peacekeeper was lightly injured and received medical assistance.
The mission said that two drones were observed flying near the position shortly before the grenade was dropped. "This is the second IDF grenade attack on peacekeepers this month," the statement read, describing the incident as a "serious violation" of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which underpins the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and the Israeli regime.
'Israel' disregards safety of UNIFIL troops
UNIFIL stressed that the attack reflects a "concerning disregard for the safety of peacekeepers implementing their mandate from the Security Council."
The mission once again called on the Israeli occupation to cease all attacks on or near peacekeeping forces, stating that UNIFIL personnel are working to "rebuild the stability that both Israel and Lebanon have committed to restore."
The incident comes amid increasing tensions along the southern Lebanese frontier, where Israeli aggressions and aerial violations have made life increasingly difficult.
UNIFIL continues to monitor the situation and has urged all parties to uphold their commitments under international law and Resolution 1701.
The Israeli occupation continues to violate international laws and is persistent in its aggression against Lebanese territories and citizens. The latest aggression was reported on Saturday morning, when one individual was martyred and five others sustained injuries as a result of the latest wave of Israeli attacks targeting the area between al-Musaylih and al-Najariya.
The Israeli raids specifically targeted excavation equipment and bulldozers operating in the area. The bombardment led to disruption on the road linking the cities of Saida and Nabatieh.
Meanwhile, an Israeli airstrike targeting a civilian vehicle on the Burj Qalaway-Kherbet Selem road killed one person, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.
