Two women killed, youth injured in armed attack in Homs
The SDF-affiliated Hawar News Agency says Turkish drones carried out airstrikes on the area surrounding the power station in the town of al-Jarniyah, in the southern countryside of the Tishreen Dam.
Two women were killed and a young man severely injured after an armed group stormed their home in the Jab al-Jandali neighborhood and attacked them with knives, local sources from the Syrian city of Homs reported on Sunday.
The victims were identified as the sister and maternal aunt of Syrian artist Bahaa al-Yousef, while the injured man is his nephew. The artist confirmed the tragic incident through a post on his personal social media account.
The attack is part of a growing wave of violence in Homs, where recent weeks have seen a troubling surge in criminal activity, including murders, forced disappearances, and other violations. This alarming trend has raised concerns among local residents, already living in a climate of heightened tension.
Local reports indicate an escalating pattern of rights violations against minorities, further exacerbating fears in a city already plagued by instability.
SDF: Turkish shelling hits area near power station in al-Jarniyah
The Hawar News Agency, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), reported that Turkish drones carried out consecutive airstrikes on the area surrounding the power station in al-Jarniyah, a town located west of al-Raqqa province, specifically in the southern countryside of the Tishreen Dam.
According to the agency, the strikes hit the area five times in quick succession, causing significant material damage to the facility.
It is worth noting that fighting between the SDF and Turkish-backed National Army factions continues in the Tishreen Dam region, east of Aleppo. The clashes follow the National Army's announcement last month of a military operation against the SDF in the towns of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) in eastern Aleppo and northern Raqqa, further escalating tensions in northern Syria.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent said that the SDF thwarted attacks by the National Army on the fronts of Tishreen Dam and Maskanah in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, northern Syria.
The National Army attempted to advance on the fronts of Tishreen Dam and Maskanah, which witnessed fierce fighting and Turkish aerial bombardment, our correspondent said.
The SDF confirmed the killing of around 100 fighters from the National Army, which acknowledged the loss of 25 of its own personnel, our correspondent indicated.
