UK blocks legal inquiries into 'Israel's' violations of int'l law
The decision by Sunak's government to block legal procedures further showcases the UK's unwavering and unconditional support for the Israeli occupation's genocide in Gaza.
It has been reported that the UK has blocked legal assessments into "Israel's" violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) during its genocide in Gaza, which comes two weeks after the UK refused to stop exporting arms to the occupation.
The Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT), a UK-based pressure group that aims to end the global arms trade, referred to Trade Government lawyer James Eadie who admitted to a “hiatus” in legal assessments over whether "Israel" is breaching IHL for matters he “couldn’t go into.”
He noted that “decisions of some importance have been delayed for some time” and that these delays were due “imminently” probably in mid to late May.
On Sunday, the leader of the UK House of Commons lower chamber said that the security of the Israeli occupation is that of Britain's, proposing that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak increase military spending and consider financing the establishment of a national air defense system similar to "Israel's" Iron Dome.

Talking to The Sunday Telegraph, Penny Mordaunt said, "Israel’s defense is our defense, and we must be ready to defend our allies the same way that we would defend ourselves, as we did last weekend," referring to the military response against the occupation entity last Sunday.
The former Minister of State for the Armed Forces added, "To those that say about our defense ambitions ‘we can’t do, shouldn’t do or can’t afford to do’, I say ‘look to Israel’ – a nation a fraction of our size that has staved off an attack from a nation 10 times its size."
Two weeks ago, British Foreign Minister David Cameron announced that, after reviewing the latest legal advice, Britain would not cease arms sales to "Israel" by British companies.
Six months into the Israeli air and ground aggression on Gaza, Sunak's government faces significant pressure to revoke licenses permitting arms exports to "Israel".
"The latest assessment leaves our position on export licenses unchanged. This is consistent with the advice that I and other ministers have received," Cameron said at a press conference with his US counterpart Antony Blinken in Washington.
"And as ever, we will keep the position under review."
Britain supplied 42 million pounds ($53 million) of arms to "Israel" in 2022.
This comes as more than 600 lawyers, academics, retired senior judges, including three former Supreme Court Justices one of whom is the court’s former President Lady Hale, former court of appeal judges, and more than 60 KCs warned that the UK government is violating international law by perpetually arming "Israel", The Guardian reported.
