UK depleted Uranium projectiles to Ukraine a new provocation: Moscow
Russia's Foreign Ministry spokesperson considers the UK's later military supply to Kiev a new provocative step.
The Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, told Sputnik on Wednesday that Britain's plan to deliver depleted uranium projectiles to Ukraine is considered London's latest provocation.
"This is another British provocation, which is aimed at bringing the situation around Ukraine to a new round of aggression, conflict and confrontation," Zakharova told Radio Sputnik.
In a bid to prolong the war, UK Minister of State Defense, Annabel Goldie, stated on Tuesday that London intends to provide Kiev with armor-piercing shells for its Challenger 2 main battle tanks, including depleted uranium ammunition.
It will also send radioactive-depleted uranium ammunition for the tanks it vowed to supply for Kiev.
"All conversations that they see the well-being of Ukraine in the future after the statements about the intention to supply shells with depleted uranium are ending," Zakharova said, as she explained, because of the adverse health effects that are caused by depleted uranium projectiles, that this is in fact a manifestation of genocide against the population against which such weapons are used.
On February 21, the Daily Mail said that less than 100 of the 227 Challenger 2 tanks are considered combat-ready.

It is worth mentioning that depleted uranium has been used for civil and military purposes for many years, including by the US army and their allies in the 1991 Gulf war and the invasion of Iraq, which resulted in several cases of birth defects and increased rates of cancer among the Iraqi population.
