UK sanctions 3 Russian companies, alleging Syrian support.
As part of the sanctions campaign against Syria, the UK has imposed restrictions on three Russian companies for allegedly operating in the oil and gas industry in Syria and thus supporting Syrian authorities, according to the UK Treasury's Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation on Wednesday.
These sanctions are imposed at a time when theft of Syrian oil from US-controlled regions are frequent, with oil-loaded convoys leaving Syria and heading to US bases in Iraq exposed every now and then, amid full international silence and no actions whatsoever taken to prevent such heists.

According to the statement, "The following entries have been added to the consolidated list and are now subject to an asset freeze."
Sanctions were imposed on Velada LLC, Mercury LLC, and Evro Polis LLC. The firms are purportedly tied to Russian tycoon Yevgeny Prigozhin, according to the paper.
Sanctions have already been placed on these firms by the European Union and Switzerland.
