Ukraine to be supplied by convertible "smart bombs" by the White House
It remains unknown whether the Biden administration, US defense officials, or the president himself has approved of the supply.
Citing senior US officials familiar with the matter, a US-based newspaper published a report on Wednesday stating that Ukraine is expected to be provided with advanced electronic equipment by the White House - to transform unmanned aerial munitions into high-precision "smart bombs" to use against Russia.
Russia, on the other hand, has already prepared. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev posted on his Telegram channel last Sunday that production of the most powerful arms, such as those based on developing physical principles, is being boosted in Russia.
"Our enemy is entrenched … in Europe, North America, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and a whole number of other places that have sworn allegiance to today’s Nazis. That is why we are boosting the production of the most powerful means of destruction, including those based on new principles," he added.
Ukraine weapons ending up in Africa
Global positioning devices, according to the report, would be part of the supply precision package which the Pentagon calls a Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM). However, it remains unknown whether the Biden administration, US defense officials, or the president himself has approved of the supply.
What's worrying, is that Denis Pushilin, acting head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), said on Wednesday as quoted by Sputnik that foreign weapons being supplied to Ukraine, including Javelin anti-tank systems, are sold on the black market, most notably to Africa.
“I haven’t seen anything new lately, but the arms that continue to come to Ukraine can now be easily bought. And now Ukraine is becoming one of the central suppliers of weapons on the black market, on the dark market you can buy the weapons that are supplied to Ukraine as part of assistance and support by Western countries," Pushilin stressed.
The officials did not disclose the exact weapons that would be used to be transformed into "smart bombs" or whether they would be deployed through air- or ground-based munition.
