Ukraine wants Iron Dome air system from 'Israel': Ambassador

The Ukrainian Ambassador to "Israel", Yevgen Korniychuk, said that "Israel" must "return to reality" and increase its support for Ukraine, notably by supplying it with the Iron Dome air system.

"I want the Israeli government to move away from its comfort zone and get back to reality. We need Israeli assistance ... I mean that we need the military-technical support; we need Iron Dome," Korniychuk told Israeli media on Tuesday, as quoted by the Jerusalem Post.

He stressed that Ukraine does not "need a donation, we want to buy it."

The Ambassador expressed frustration with the lack of coverage of the Ukraine crisis in Israeli media, which he says represents the Israeli government's stance in light of "Israel's" refusal to help Kiev with either military or medical assistance.

According to a source at the Jerusalem Post, "Israel" is unlikely to transfer the weapon to Ukraine or any other country due to international security export obligations.

Yesterday, Yevhen Korniychuk, Ukraine's ambassador to "Israel" held a press conference on Tuesday to express his disappointment with "Israel's" lackluster military aid to his country.

According to "Israel" Hayom, Korniychuk said he was disappointed with the lack of Israeli mobilization to aid his country, adding that what Ukraine needs most "is missile systems."

The Ambassador further explained that Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelensky, is disappointed with "Israel's" actions.

Earlier this month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kiev will purchase a sophisticated air defense system "more effective than the Iron Dome," adding that the Israeli Iron Dome is unsuitable for Ukraine.

Iron Dome is a joint Israeli-American business that cannot be sold to a third party unless both developer countries agree. In the spring of 2021, the Ukrainian government publicly requested that Patriot missiles and the Iron Dome missile system be sent to Ukraine from the administration of US President Joe Biden.
