Ukrainian Defense Minister says no 'Russian attack' soon
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said on Sunday that it is inappropriate to say the "attack" will take place in the coming days, considering that no "Strike forces" of Russian troops in any city.
Because there are no "strike forces" of Russian soldiers in any city, it is improper to declare the "attack" will take place in the coming days, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov stated on Sunday.
Reznikov told Ukraine's 1+1 broadcaster that "Today, as of this hour, Russia has not formed yet a strike force in any city where it surrounded Ukraine. Therefore, it is inappropriate, in my opinion, to talk about the attack tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. But this does not mean that the risks are low, and it does not mean that there is no threat. I want to remind our partners that the threat has existed since 2013."
He added that the Ukrainian military is ready for the Russian troops.
The Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said on Sunday that Russia does not intend to destabilize neither the US nor Ukraine.
The Russian embassy on Facebook quoted Antonov as saying "Russia does not pose a threat to the United States, does not threaten Ukraine. We do not seek to destabilize Washington or Kyiv. Americans and Ukrainians are not our opponents."
The situation around Ukraine has worsened over the past several months after the US and its allies accused Russia of preparing to "invade" its neighbor.
According to the US Embassy in Kyiv last month, the US delivered 90,7 tons of "lethal aid" to Ukraine in a new "military assistance initiative" overseen by US President Joe Biden.
Russia has repeatedly denied having plans to attack any country but said it reserved the right to move troops inside its sovereign territory as it sees fit, as part of defending its security.
Moscow has also warned that NATO's plans to expand further eastward, including in Ukraine, represent a threat to its national security.
Antonov: American media replicates disinformation
Antonov added that "There is no 'Russian invasion' of Ukraine, and it is not planned." Antonov said that "Most of American media replicate disinformation that 'the Russians are about to attack their neighbor,' while the deadlines are constantly postponed." He adding that "All these rumors are part of the information war to distort the situation and present Russia in an extremely negative way."
The ambassador detailed that the deployment of Russian Armed Forces on Russian territory does not concern or affect the US.
Antonov concluded that "It is impossible to invite Russia to cooperation on arms control and, at the same time, unlimitedly step up NATO's military potential at our borders."
