Ukrainian drone attack on Bryansk thwarted: Russian MoD
The Russian Defense Ministry reports the successful interception of a Ukrainian aircraft-type drone in the Bryansk Region.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian air defense systems successfully intercepted a Ukrainian aircraft-type drone in the Bryansk Region.
Earlier in the day, Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Bogomaz stated that electronic warfare systems had neutralized a Ukrainian drone as it approached Bryansk.
"This morning, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type UAV on targets on the territory of Russia was stopped.️ Air defense forces on duty intercepted a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle over the territory of the Bryansk Region," the ministry said in a statement.
It is worth noting that the Kursk Region Governor Roman Starovoit confirmed on Tuesday that a Ukrainian drone dropped explosives on a power substation in the Russian region, leaving seven settlements without power, but no injuries have been reported.
Concurrently, the Russian Defense Ministry said air defense systems destroyed a Ukrainian fixed-wing drone over the Kursk Region.
Earlier on Monday, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said Russian air defenses shot down a missile over Crimea.
Running out of choices: Ukraine becomes overreliant on drone attacks
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian army has become overreliant on the use of long-range missiles and attack drones, as its counteroffensive is proving to be a failed mission.
On September 14, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Ukrainian armed forces (AFU) attacked Russia's Sergei Kotov patrol vessel of the Black Sea Fleet using five drone boats overnight, but all drone boats were destroyed.
At the time, the Russian Defense Ministry said Russian air defense systems had also shot down 11 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles over Crimea overnight.
In further detail, Russia said it had destroyed several Ukrainian drones in its border regions of Bryansk and Belgorod during the night from Wednesday to Thursday.
The Ministry said that six drones had been shot down in four separate locations over the Bryansk region, which is roughly equidistant between Kiev and Moscow.
In the same context, another drone was destroyed further south over the Belgorod region on Wednesday evening, the Defense Ministry added, saying the attempted attack had been thwarted.
Ukraine launched last Wednesday a total of 10 cruise missiles toward the Sevastopol shipyard, resulting in damage to two ships that were undergoing repairs, as per the Russian Defense Ministry. The attack also reportedly involved three unmanned boats.
