Ukrainian unit surrenders to Russian army near Kursk
This action follows Ukraine's offensive attack on Russian soil in the Kursk region where civilians were present.
A Ukrainian military unit of 24 servicemen from the armed forces surrendered to the Russian Army near the Komarovka village in the Kursk Region, effectively organized through Telegram, a Russian law enforcement spokesperson told Sputnik.
"Twenty-four servicemen from the 22nd separate mechanized brigade of the armed forces of Ukraine surrendered to the Russian army in an organized manner near the village of Komarovka in the Kursk Direction," he said, highlighting that "before surrendering, the Ukrainian military contacted us through the FREE_SOLDIER2022 channel."
This follows Ukraine's offensive attack in the Kursk region on August 6 as part of its war with Russia, losing more than 2,800 service people and 41 tanks. Some of the weapons used by Ukraine are generally funded or provided by the NATO alliance.

Russia makes gain in axes of advancement, regains territories in Kursk
Russia's armed forces have regained control over the Krupets village in the border region of Kursk, amid a 10-day-long Ukrainian incursion into the region, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced last week.
On the opposite front, Russia said it took control of a village 16 km from Donetsk's city of Pokrovsk, to the east of Ukraine, which sits in parallel to a major Ukrainian armed forces supply line.
Analysts believed that the incursion into Kursk would see the diversion of Russian troops from several axes of advancement into Ukraine.
President Vladimir Putin vowed to send a proper retaliation against Ukraine, stating it carried out a large-scale provocation that targeted civilians.
