The United Nations expressed deep concern on Tuesday over the latest Israeli military raids in the occupied West Bank, which left several Palestinians injured.
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said during a press briefing that the organization was monitoring reports from Ramallah and stressed alarm over the manner in which the operations were carried out. “We are just seeing these reports. We are concerned about these operations and the way they were conducted in the West Bank,” he told reporters.
Dujarric also reiterated UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ call on both the Israeli occupation and Hamas leadership to agree on a ceasefire to prevent further escalation.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, Israeli forces carried out raids in Ramallah and al-Bireh, leaving 14 people injured.
UN calls for accountability
Dujarric also said Tuesday that the United Nations was seeking accountability for the lives lost in recent Israeli strikes on the Nasser Hospital in Gaza.
"I think there will be a good start when there is accountability for those who have lost their lives, your colleagues, the medical workers and all other civilians" Dujarric told a briefing when asked about new Israeli findings regarding the Nasser hospital attack.
The Israeli occupation carried out a massacre at the Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza on Monday, striking the facility twice and killing at least 20 Palestinians, including five journalists and members of the civil defense who were targeted in the second strike as they rushed to aid victims of the first.
Following the attack, the Government Media Office in Gaza announced that the number of journalists martyred since the beginning of the genocidal war on the Strip has risen to 245.
Increased Israeli aggression
The occupied West Bank witnessed heightened tension on Monday evening, with Resistance operations met by intensified raids and settler violence across several governorates.
In Jenin, Resistance fighters targeted an Israeli military vehicle with a homemade explosive near the fence of Marj Ibn Amer. The occupation forces responded by firing light bombs into the sky while searching for those behind the attack.
In Qalqilya, confrontations erupted between Palestinian youths and the IOF, who fired stun grenades and tear gas canisters at residents.
In Ramallah, settlers stormed the al-Tal area near Sinjil and opened heavy fire, while at the same time, occupation forces raided the town of Turmusaya, north of the city.
In Tulkarm, Israeli forces raided the eastern neighborhood, shuttering shops and paralyzing daily life. Simultaneously, troops raided the town of Zita in the northern part of the governorate. In Nablus, a settler vehicle infiltrated Amman Street, where it was intercepted by youths, who smashed the vehicle and forced it to flee.
