US, allies escalate rhetoric to intervene in Syria’s domestic affairs

Bassam Sabbagh, Syria's permanent representative to the UN, stated that the US and its allies are intensifying their hostile rhetoric and provocative actions in an effort to meddle in Syria's internal affairs and thwart all opposing efforts to bring about security and stability across the nation.

During the UN session on Syria's humanitarian and political affairs in Syria, Sabbagh stressed that “the US forces, present illegally on Syrian territory, continue violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, support separatist militias and loot Syrian resources."

By launching attacks on Syrian territory, committing crimes, and flagrantly violating international law and conventions, the Israeli occupation, he said, exacerbated the already tense situation in the region.

“Syria calls on Security Council to not remain silent, assume responsibility and put an end to the Israeli hostile practices and bring perpetrators to justice,” Sabbagh stressed.

The desired political solution, the Syrian representative underscored, necessitated the abolition of terrorism, the cessation of foreign meddling in Syrian domestic affairs, and the rejection of the destructive ambitions and initiatives of some foreign states.

'Israel' launches new air aggression against Syria

The Israeli occupation forces conducted air raids on numerous sites in the Syrian capital, Damascus, a Syrian military source said late Sunday.

The Syrian air defenses were activated, and they intercepted the Israeli occupation's missiles, the source added, with the majority getting down as damages were reported to only be material.

"At around 23:45 last night, the Israeli enemy conducted aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan that targeted numerous sites in the vicinity of Damascus," he said.

"Our air defenses intercepted the aggression and shot down some of the missiles. The damages were only material," the military source added.

The latest Israeli airstrikes on Syria were carried out at the onset of May, with the occupation conducting more than five airstrikes in the vicinity of Aleppo.

Syrian-state news agency SANA said the Syrian air defenses intercepted the Israeli aggression on Aleppo and successfully shot down several missiles.
