US bioactivity papers are a global concern: Chinese UN official
Chinese Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations believes the findings regarding US military biological activities are a threat to all humanity.
Documents on US military biological activities, which were published by Russia, cause concern in the international community, Chinese Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dai Bing said during the UN Security Council Arria-formula meeting on threats to international peace and security emanating from military biological activities in regions across the globe.
The informal meeting was held at Russia's initiative.
"Recently, the Russian Federation has published several documents related to biological military activities of the United States which have caused great concern of the international community," the Chinese official said.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us that as a crucial matter of international peace and security, biological security has no borders and involves the shared interests of humanity," he stressed.
"Thus any information on the biological military activity should trigger heightened concern and attention of the international community to avoid irreparable harm," Dai Bing said stressing that "China welcomes the international community to assess the discovered documents within appropriate frameworks including the BWC and the UN."
Earlier, Irina Yarovaya, the Deputy Speaker of Duma, announced that a parliamentary investigation revealed evidence that a possible biological sabotage operation was carried out in the People's Republic of Lugansk.
Recently, the head of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing said there are more than 300 US-funded civilian and military biological laboratories in the world, hinting that they are particularly concentrated in Ukraine.
On a virtual meeting on Saturday, Yarovaya said, according to a statement published by State Duma, “We can speak with confidence that we have found new information confirming the practice of dangerous activities by the Ukrainian regime, in cooperation with the United States, within a biological program."
