US delegate in Qatar approved Gaza proposal Hamas agreed on: Official
Senior Hamas official tells Al Mayadeen that in the agreed-upon deal, there are no conditions or restrictions on the return of displaced Palestinians.
Head of Hamas' Foreign Relations Department Ali Baraka confirmed Monday that the Palestinian Resistance group has agreed to a permanent ceasefire, reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and a prisoner swap deal with the Israeli occupation entity.
Baraka told Al Mayadeen that mediators have confirmed that a sustainable ceasefire means a permanent halt to military operations and hostilities.
Touching on the clauses of the agreement, the Hamas official mentioned that, in the initial phase of the swap deal, 30 Palestinian detainees would be freed for every Israeli captive.
He pointed out that the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces would see two stages, with the complete withdrawal taking place in the second.
Baraka emphasized that in the agreed-upon deal, there are no conditions or restrictions on the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes.
The Palestinian official said that the US delegate in Qatar has approved the proposal agreed on by Hamas, noting that it is now up to Washington to convey the proposal to the Israeli side.
He said that "the ball is in Netanyahu's court; either he retrieves the [Israeli] captives through negotiation or escalates and loses everything."
"When Hamas agrees to the proposal, it speaks on behalf of all the Resistance factions, with whom it consults daily," he affirmed.
Baraka also said that Hamas maintains constant consultation and coordination with Palestinian factions and the Axis of Resistance.
"Israel's failure to achieve its objectives is a victory for the Palestinian people, Gaza, and the Axis of Resistance," the Hamas official told Al Mayadeen.
Earlier, Hamas' Media Office announced that the movement informed mediators that it has agreed to a proposed prisoner exchange and ceasefire deal with the Israeli occupation.
This was confirmed by a senior Palestinian Resistance official who told Al Mayadeen, "The mediators and Hamas reached a new, tight formula that would lead to a ceasefire, thus overcoming this dilemma."
"Hamas was extremely flexible in reaching an agreement, and the ball is now in Israel’s court," the source explained.
In its statement, the Resistance faction announced that the head of Hamas' Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, held a phone call with the Qatari Prime Minister, Mohammad bin Rahman al-Thani, and the Director of Egyptian Intelligence Minister Abbas Kamel, informing them that the movement has agreed to "their proposal for a ceasefire."
"Israel" is yet to agree to the latest proposal.
