The United States government will expedite the delivery of approximately $4 billion in military assistance to the Israeli occupation, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Saturday.
Rubio signed a declaration to expedite the transfer of weapons and equipment to the Israeli regime after the Donald Trump-led administration approved nearly $12 billion in foreign military sales.
The US "will continue to use all available tools to fulfill America’s long-standing commitment to Israel’s security, including means to counter security threats," Rubio said in a statement.
Earlier, President Trump rescinded a February 2024 directive issued by former US President Joe Biden, ending supposed safeguards on the use of US weapons. Biden had issued the directive amid the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, where American-made and supplied weapons had been infamously used to commit war crimes and facilitated the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people.
The move eliminated any potential obstacles for the Israeli occupation in its use of weapons and was overwhelmingly tied to "Israel" rather than any other US arms recipient due to the occupation's long record of blatant and egregious war crimes.
Moreover, the Trump administration also removed restrictions on the transfer of large-caliber bombs, used by the Israeli regime to level residential blocs in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon over the past months.
This latest decision to expedite military assistance to the occupation once again underscores the Trump administration's commitment to advancing pro-Zionist policies and rhetoric, including its backing of the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, among other measures.
