US implored IRGC to release seized sea drones in Red Sea: Commander
According to Admiral Irani, US officials had to beg the IRGC naval forces to release the sea drones.
The Commander of the Iranian Navy, Read Admiral Shahram Irani, said on Friday the US implored Tehran to release two unmanned research sea vessels, confiscated in the Red Sea on August 30.
On August 30, Iran seized and then released two US sea drones for endangering safe navigation in international waters of the Red Sea.
According to Admiral Irani, US officials had to beg the IRGC naval forces to release the sea drones.
Since then, the Commander says that Iran's naval forces haven't encountered any vessels since the incident - suggesting that the US no longer dares to violate international regulations on maritime security.
Iran's naval forces frequently carry out counter-terrorist patrols across the Malaga Strait and the Bab Al-Mandab, in line with international regulations.
But the presence of undeclared and illegal equipment at sea is enough of a reason for Iran's naval forces to respond accordingly.
Concerning maritime diplomacy, the commander said Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a decree last year that commands Iran's naval forces to carry out operations with respect and prompt consideration to allies.
The Commander likewise hailed the contributions of Iran's youth, scientists, and industrialists within the national naval industry.
Earlier today, state-affiliated sources reported that Iran's Navy is scheduled to be equipped with super-heavy submarines in the near future.
