US occupation fortifies Syria bases with hardware from Iraq
American forces have transported to their occupation bases in northeast Syria a new batch of military equipment taken from its bases in Iraq.
The United States transferred large amounts of military equipment, hardware, and munitions to its occupation bases in northeast Syria from Iraq through the illegal Al-Waleed border-crossing, Syrian state newsy agency SANA reported on Monday.
"A convoy consisting of 40 vehicles, including trucks loaded with logistical materials, military equipment, and ammunition, was brought in by US occupation forces from Iraqi territory through the illegal Al-Walid crossing," the media outlet said citing local sources.
The convoy, accompanied by armored military vehicles for protection, then headed to Kharab Al-Jir military airport, SANA added, noting that the Americans passed through the Al-Hasakah countryside on their way.
The US military controls parts of the provinces of Al-Hasakah, Raqqa, Aleppo, and Deir Ezzor, where the largest Syrian oil and gas fields are located. The Syrian government has repeatedly called the US military presence in the provinces an occupation aimed at plundering the country's oil.
American occupation bases in Syria have been under an increased number of attacks in the past few months, most notably a rocket targeting that led to an exchange of intermittent shelling that lasted three days between US troops and forces resisting their illegal occupation. The attacks resulted in the death of one US military contractor and the wounding of several soldiers.
Following those attacks, Washington opted to increase its military presence in the area in an effort to maintain its occupation of Syria's largest energy fields.
The most recent attack publicly acknowledged by the US occurred earlier this month, where according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), a rocket strike targeted their base in the Conoco gas plant, north of Deir Ezzor.
The US base in the Kharab al-Jir military airport is where a drone attack resulted in the killing of one US contractor and the injury of several other servicemen on 23 March.
