An anonymous source familair with the talks told Bloomberg that the US has asked Qatar to persuade Hezbollah not to start a second front in the fight.
While the Israeli occupation has not backed down on its pledge to "remove" Hamas from the Palestinian equation, mainly by butchering thousands of Palestinians in Gaza, the US has cautioned Iran about the dangers of escalation through back-channel negotiations, particularly with Hezbollah.
On Sunday, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on CBS News’s Face the Nation mentioned that the US could not be sure Iran or Hezbollah would not join the war.
An anonymous source familiar with the talks told Bloomberg that the US has asked Qatar to persuade Hezbollah not to open a second front in the fight.
On Sunday, UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly told Sky News that he had asked "Israel" to limit civilian casualties in order to prevent stoking the flames, although the number of Palestinians killed so far in the aggression nears 3,000 with Israeli airstrikes not relenting.
Cleverly explained that “it is in Israel’s interest to avoid civilian casualties and Palestinian casualties" to avoid a wider Arab-Israeli war, something he noted, "none of us, including Israel, want."
Another source divulged that Kuwait also fears that Iran might join in the battle.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Blinken spoke with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to assume a mediation role to implement a ceasefire in the context of "Israel's" aggression on Gaza.
Blinken encouraged China to utilize its influence to assist with mediation efforts. China's peaceful relations with Iran, which supports Hamas and Hezbollah, were part of the discussion, State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said.
In response, Wang emphasized that the US should assume a "constructive and responsible role" in expediting a return to the path of a peaceful resolution, as per a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian warned that "if the crimes of the Zionists do not stop and the current criminal attacks against the citizens of Gaza do not end, no one can guarantee that the scope of the crisis will not expand."
Amir-Abdollahian met with Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Friday, according to IRNA.
France and other European leaders are scheduled to discuss the matter on Tuesday.
Israeli Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi said in a late-night briefing Saturday that the entity's objective is to avoid being "drawn into a double-theater war."
Hezbollah at the core of this battle, ready for all scenarios: MP
Member of Hezbollah's parliamentary bloc Loyalty to the Resistance MP Hassan Fadlallah told Al Mayadeen that the current events at the border are a continuation of the defensive measures that the Resistance has been implementing since the very beginning.
Fadlallah stated that the Resistance is not neutral and naturally supports Palestine, but it is cautious about disclosing specific details to the enemy regarding any of its actions.
He emphasized that their position is meticulously considered, taking various scenarios and possibilities into account. Fadlallah noted that despite direct or indirect communication with Western countries and parties, the Resistance has refrained from revealing their future actions.
He also underlined that the Resistance has no intention of divulging their upcoming moves to the enemy, emphasizing that this battle is the battle of the Ummah. He pointed out that the ongoing situation in Gaza constitutes Israeli war crimes against the Palestinian people.
