US pressures Israeli war cabinet to postpone any attack on Iran
Amid commotion on the possibility of an Israeli counterattack against Iran, the United States has interfered, pressuring"Israel" to backtrack on an operation that would escalate the situation further.
The Israeli war cabinet remains conflicted regarding an attack against Iran, following the latter's retaliatory operation that targeted Israeli locations in occupied territories on Saturday night.
Amid pressure from the US to avoid escalations in the region, as well as the Iranian decision to respond to any substantial overt Israeli strike on Iranian territory, the Israeli war cabinet convened for an hours-long meeting that ended with no clear course of action.
Although "Israel" was allegedly ready for an immediate counterattack, US President Joe Biden urged the occupation to halt any operation.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that although Iran did not incur much damage throughout its attack, the war cabinet has been divided, with some Israeli ministers calling for an immediate attack against Iran, while others would rather wait, prepare, and then attack.
However, as international pressure mounts over "Israel" to not escalate the situation further, the meeting was left on an undecided note.
The US says no to war with Iran
On Sunday, a US source said that US President Joe Biden warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to "think carefully" about retaliating against Iran, and "Israel" is not looking to worsen the situation.
"The Israelis made clear to us they're not looking for a significant escalation with Iran," the official explained to AFP, adding that Biden "made very clear to the prime minister last night that we do have to think carefully and strategically about the risks of escalation."
The US has also announced that it would not partake in any activity that targets Iran.
White House spokesperson John Kirby revealed that the United States does not want to see more escalations in the Middle East, following the events of Iran's retaliatory operation against "Israel" on Sunday.
"We're not looking for a wider war with Iran," he told NBC's Meet the Press.
