'Israel' requests urgent UNSC meeting
The occupation entity had earlier announced that it would attack Iranian territory if the Islamic Republic's response directly targeted "Israel".
Following Iran's massive response, Israelis requested an urgent United Nations Security Council meeting to condemn Tehran and list Iran's Revolution Guards Corps as a "terrorist organization."
A senior IRGC commander warned in an interview with Press TV on Sunday that any attack on Iranian soil would see a response with "twice the force".
The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, revealed that the Islamic Republic had the capacity to carry out a missile and drone strike that was "tens of times" larger, but chose not to launch a massive attack and limited it to a punitive operation.
However, if "Israel" retaliates against Iran, "our next response will certainly be much broader than this operation," he continued. Bagheri also mentioned that Tehran warned the United States via Switzerland not to take part or facilitate in any potential Israeli attack on Iran, or else its forces and bases in the region would not be safe, he said.
In a statement, the IRGC said that the operation targeting "Israel," dubbed "True Promise," came following the "silence and neglect" of international organizations regarding the attack on the consulate and the assassination of its senior members. The statement pointed out that the United Nations Security Council also failed to condemn the Israeli aggression or punish the entity in accordance with Article 7 of the UN Charter.
