US sanctions Myanmar, Chinese, North Korean, Russia entities
The US department of treasury imposed fresh sanctions on Russia, sanctioning the Moscow-based European Justo institute and a Russian citizen over relations with North Korea.
The United States sanctioned Friday the Moscow-based European Institute Justo and a Russian citizen under the pretext of relations with North Korea.
The Department of Treasury designated 10 entities for their alleged "connection to human rights abuse." These include the North Korean Prosecutor's office, military institutions in Myanmar and Bangladesh, Chinese and North Korean companies, and a studio in Shanghai.
The DoT also designated 15 individuals from various countries, including Bangladesh, Myanmar, China, North Korea, and a politician from Transnistria.
The Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation in the Russian Foreign Ministry, Dmitry Birichevsky, said Moscow was considering taking countermeasures against possible US sanctions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had held a video conference with his US counterpart, Joe Biden, during which the latter expressed "deep concerns" to Putin over Ukraine, stressing that the United States and its allies would impose large-scale economic sanctions on Russia should it invade Ukraine.
