US says no evidence of Iran involvement in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood
This statement comes in light of a report by the Wall Street Journal claiming that Iran is playing a role in Hamas' Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, but Kirby stated that the US is currently looking further into it.
During a conference call, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby announced that there is no hard evidence pointing to Iran's involvement in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
"We haven't seen hard, tangible evidence that Iran was directly involved in participating in or resourcing, planning, these sorts of complex attacks that Hamas pulled off over the weekend," he said on Monday.
This statement comes in light of a report by the Wall Street Journal claiming that Iran plays a role in Hamas' Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, but Kirby stated that the US is currently looking further into it.
He also echoed Israeli officials declaring that they cannot see any particular involvement by Iran over the weekend.
The Wall Street Journal report on Sunday, citing high-ranking sources in Hamas and Hezbollah, claimed that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps allegedly helped Hamas plan the operation and that Iran had green-lighted Hamas' actions during a meeting in Beirut on October 2.

Israelis bark and don't bite?
Yesterday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, denied allegations that the Palestinian people are capable of defending themselves and that they have "sufficient determination and self-ability to reclaim their right, as they have proven."
Kanaani underscored that the politicized and baseless accusations toward Iran or Hezbollah seek to justify the US support for the Israeli occupation government violations, targeting the Palestinians in their occupied land.
In turn, the Iranian Permanent Mission to the United Nations said in a statement that "The decisions made by the Palestinian Resistance are fiercely autonomous and unwaveringly aligned with the legitimate interests of the Palestinian people. We emphatically stand in unflinching support of Palestine; however, we are not involved in Palestine's response, as it is taken solely by Palestine itself."
He warned that any "foolish" Israeli attack against Iran would be faced with a "destructive” response from Tehran while addressing Israeli officials by saying, "If you can, defend yourself in front of the Palestinian Resistance."
