US Senate leader 'disappointed' with China's backing of Palestine
The top US Senator expresses disappointment with China's foreign ministry statement regarding its stance with Palestine amid Operation Al-Aqsa Flood after China's ceasefire calls.
US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was greeted at Beijing's Diaoyutai State Guesthouse alongside his delegation to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday.
Wang hoped Schumer's visit would "help the United States to more accurately understand China" and "manage existing differences more rationally, helping the relationship between the two countries return to the track of healthy development".
In response, Schumer thanked Wang for "welcoming us" and said: "To demonstrate our willingness to undertake frank but productive communication, I am leading this bipartisan delegation," he said.
"We very much appreciate the time you're taking to meet with us".

However, Schumer expressed being "very disappointed" with China's foreign ministry statement, which demonstrates a solidarity stance with Palestine amid Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
"The foreign ministry's statement... showed no sympathy or support for Israel during these tough, troubled times," Schumer said after China urged for "calm" and "cease fire immediately".
Tragedy for the US, a victory for Palestine
During an interview with CNN, US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, said that this is the worst attack on "Israel" since the 1973 war, referring to Operation Al-Aqsa Flood launched by Palestinian resistance on Saturday morning.
Blinken said in his statement to CNN, "Washington's focus now is on helping Israel ensure it has what it needs to deal with this situation."
"We are considering specific additional requests made by the Israelis, and they are likely to be announced today."
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, in turn, said he directed the aircraft carrier Gerald Ford to the eastern Mediterranean: noting that the United States government will provide the Israeli military with additional equipment and resources, including ammunition.

Ever since the Palestinian resistance launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, the Israeli occupation forces and Israeli settlers have been bumping into walls, left and right, out of confusion and panic.
According to Israeli media, in their panic, settlers drive and refuse to halt at checkpoints, assuming that the soldiers are members of Hamas disguised as the IOF, prompting the latter to open fire, believing that the drivers are Palestinians.
