US to 'Israel': Refrain from responding to Yemen attacks; we will
The United States has warned “Israel” against reacting to missile and drone attacks from Yemen, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
The United States has reportedly advised "Israel" against responding to missile and drone attacks originating from Yemen, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Instead, the US has urged "Israel" to permit the American military to handle the response, the report stressed.
With this move, the US has taken upon itself the mission of responding to threats from the Yemeni front while being thousands of miles away from home.
Having deployed its warships in the region, the US has already intercepted several missiles aimed at "Israel", while "Israel" has intercepted others, the report further detailed.
The report, based on information from US and other government officials, indicated that the US is apprehensive that an Israeli counter-response could further escalate the existing war.
Yemeni ballistic missiles target Israeli military sites in 'Eilat'
The US statement comes shortly after the Yemeni Armed Forces launched a barrage of ballistic missiles at Israeli military targets in Um Al-Rashrash - "Eilat", the army spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree said on Wednesday.
It is worth noting that the occupation's city of "Eilat" was built on the ruins of the Palestinian village of Um al-Rashrash. It was developed by the occupation to serve as the entity's only window through the Red Sea. It has also served as a tourist destination, however, its hotels are now filled up with thousands of Israeli settlers who fled the Gaza Envelope, which has now become inhabitable due to the Palestinian Resistance's heavy rocket barrages.
Interestingly, "Eilat" itself has been a target for Resistance factions who seek to support the Palestinian people and their Resistance via missile and drone operations.
In a statement, the General confirmed that the Yemeni forces "will continue to carry out military operations against the Israeli enemy and implement the decision to prevent Israeli ships from navigating in the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea, in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and until the aggression against our brothers in Gaza comes to a halt."
In a separate statement, the Minister of Defense in Yemen's Sanaa reiterated that the Red Sea remains a theatre of operations for the Yemeni armed forces against Israeli ships until the war on the Strip ends.
The big picture
Saree announced on Monday that the Yemeni forces will resume operations against the Israeli occupation after it renewed its aggression on the Gaza Strip on Friday morning.
Shortly before the temporary truce, Sanaa captured the Galaxy Leader Israeli ship in a naval operation and led it back to the country's coast. Yemen confirmed that there will be no talks on releasing the vessel until the war on Gaza ends.
On the same day after declaring the resumption of operations, the Yemeni army announced targeting the Israeli-owned Unity Explorer and Number 9 vessels in the Bab al-Mandab Strait off the coast of Yemen, confirming direct hits on both.
