Venezuela FM to Rubio: 'Pathetic obsessive', 'frustrated bureaucrat'
Following Marco Rubio's remarks accusing several countries, including Venezuela, of being "enemies of humanity," Yvan Gil responds in a vigorous statement.
Venezuela's Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto blasted the "pathetic obsessive" US Secretary of State for his controversial remarks classifying several Latin American countries as "enemies of humanity."
Marco Rubio on Tuesday accused Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela of being "enemies of humanity," primarily blaming them for the region's migration crisis.
The Venezuelan foreign minister responded in a forceful statement calling out Rubio's obsession with the nations and exposing his motives.
"It seems he cannot sleep without thinking about Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Could it be because, despite the hatred he spews and his desire to harm with blockades, sanctions, and aggression, these nations have defeated him time and again with dignity and resolve?" Gil's statement read.
Expanding on that notion, Gil also described Rubio's resentment as "the rage of a frustrated bureaucrat" who reportedly refuses to tolerate the resistance sovereign states show against US policies.
Reciprocating the offense, Gil called the United States an "enemy of humanity," citing the decades of destruction and suffering it has sowed across the globe. Meanwhile, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Cuba set a prime example of resilience, perseverance, and confrontation against external pressures.
The top Venezuelan diplomat concluded his statement with a direct address to Rubio, saying, "You can continue with your sick obsession, Mr. Rubio. Keep barking, because here we will remain, standing tall, defeating your fantasies as always: with sovereignty, resistance, and our heads held high."
We have a great mission to liberate Latin America: Maduro
This comes as tensions escalate between Venezuela and the United States with the arrival of Donald Trump into office.
On January 12, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said no one in Venezuela wants military intervention, sanctions, or violence but freedom, democracy, harmony, and unity, pointing out that Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Latin America are at the forefront of the struggle against fascism.
After the International Anti-Fascist Festival in the Venezuelan capital Caracas, Maduro said, "January 10 was a historic day, marking the divide between those who represent colonialism, war, and plunder, and us, the people."
He highlighted that the proposals emerging from this global anti-fascist movement demonstrate the momentum it has gained, noting that in just a few months, it has established a presence in 77 countries.
"We have a great mission to rescue and liberate all of Latin America," the Venezuelan leader underlined, adding that his country has entered a new phase of the Bolivarian democratic and popular revolution in the 21st century.
Maduro also underscored the need for this global movement to advance toward forming a broad and diverse global anti-fascist alliance for peace, democracy, and the development of nations.
He called for strengthening the movement's capacity to mobilize across towns and cities, building powerful forces on social media, fostering impactful social movements in fields, neighborhoods, and universities, and working with political forces to fight for and build nations.
