Venezuela and India signed multiple agreements, including energy deals, during India Energy Week (IEW), President Nicolás Maduro announced.
"India's investment in energy in Venezuela will only grow, and our energy future will increasingly be linked to India, as one of the new emerging superpowers," Maduro said.
"There are already agreements in place to move forward because India has unsuspected levels of technology that are surprising the world," the president added.
He emphasized that Venezuela has started contributing to an increasingly multipolar world, highlighting the need to forge ties and build cooperation networks across energy, communication, culture, and technology sectors.
Meanwhile, India's Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, had said at the sidelines of IEW that he expects more oil to come from Venezuela in the future.
However, he did point to difficulties in making payments for Venezuelan oil products, due to "constraints." Puri said that it seems that these constraints are now "being eased."
"I am looking at it with great optimism to these issues getting resolved,” Puri concluded.
