We expect you to defend Palestinian people: Khamenei to Pope Francis
Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei tells Pope Francis that he expects more support for the oppressed people of Yemen and Palestine.
The Director of Iran's Islamic Seminaries Ayatollah Alireza A'arafi met Tuesday with Pope Francis with a message from Iranian Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported.
In the message, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution praised some stances adopted by Pope Francis in strengthening the relationship between Muslims and Christians.
"We expect you to continue to work to defend the oppressed people of the world, especially in Palestine and Yemen, and to have a clear and transparent stance in that respect," he said.
The Great Pontiff, on the other hand, sent his greetings to Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei and various other religious dignitaries and personalities. "We also accept all the issues that the Iranian Leader says in this field."
A'arafi traveled to Italy and the Vatican at the invitation of various religious organizations and figures. He was accompanied by the deputy for research and investigation affairs in Iran's Islamic Seminaries, Sheikh Abu Al-Qasim Hajji Moqimi, and the director of the Center for International Relations and International Affairs, Sheikh Mufeed Hosseini Kohsari.
During the meeting, the two religious figures underlined the significance of synergy and cooperation among the regions.
