White House Confirms Biden's Plans to Run in 2024
After US media outlets reported on Biden's plans to run for a second term despite his low approval rate, the White House confirms the news.
US President Joe Biden intends to run for a second term in 2024, according to White House spokesperson Jen Psaki, despite his declining approval ratings.
Some Democrats had been under the impression that Biden would not seek reelection as a result of his low ratings, but as Biden was flying today aboard Air Force One for a Thanksgiving event, Psaki said that it was indeed his intention to run.
Eyes had been pointed toward US Vice President Kamala Harris, in the event that Biden would decide not to run. A USA Today-Suffolk University poll revealed she only had a 28% approval rating.Nearly half of those surveyed in the poll (46%) said that Biden has done a worse job as president than they expected, including 16% of those who voted for him.
28% of Democrats said they don't want Biden to run for a second term in 2024. Trump's numbers are somewhat better than Biden's, as objection to him running for 2024 is at 58%, against Biden's 64%.
Biden has overwhelming support for the infrastructure bill the House passed on Friday, but Americans are split on the more expensive "Build Back Better" act being debated in Congress, as only 25% of people say the bill would help them and their families.
US families are expected to face great difficulties in their livelihoods, with inflation reaching its highest levels in three decades.
