WHO: Possible Ebola case being investigated in DR Congo
After the death of a 46-year-old woman in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the World Health Organization opens an investigation as doubts about Ebola reemerge.
The World Health Organization said on Saturday that health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are looking into a possible Ebola case in Beni, east of the nation after a 46-year-old lady passed away on Monday.
She was first treated for various conditions before showing signs of Ebola, according to a statement by the WHO.
Beni is one of the epicenters of the Ebola outbreak from 2018 to 2020 that claimed about 2,300 lives,.
The virus, which causes fever, body pains, and diarrhea, has a natural habitat in the lush tropical woods of DR Congo.
Since 1976, the country has seen 14 outbreaks. It announced the end of its most recent epidemic, which killed five people in northeastern Congo, last month.
