World leaders congratulate Iranian president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian on his victory in the runoff election.

Messages of congratulations flooded in from world leaders and top government officials following the official declaration of Masoud Pezeshkian as the winner of Iran's presidential runoff.

The 69-year-old heart surgeon secured over 16 million votes, while his opponent, former nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili, received more than 13 million out of approximately 30 million votes cast, with a voter turnout of 49.8 percent.

Syria’s al-Assad hopes for a boost in strategic relationship

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad sent a note of congratulations to Pezeshkian on Saturday, welcoming his victory in Iran’s presidential election.

“I congratulate you on the confidence of the dear Iranian people, and I congratulate the leadership and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the success of the electoral process, wishing you prosperity in everything that preserves Iran’s security and stability," Al-Assad said.

He added, “Your country, which is impregnable as it has always been, is one of the most important countries with which we are keen to ensure that the relationship is at its peak because this relationship is based on roots established through decades of mutual respect, common understanding, and firm principles, to which Syria and Iran have always adhered."

Al-Assad emphasized the expansion of the strategic relationship between the two countries, with a means of safeguarding their national interests, adding that there will be efforts to enhance the Syrian-Iranian strategic relationship while opening a new promising horizon for bilateral cooperation.

Iraqi President applauds successful Iranian presidential election

Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid also congratulated Pezeshkian and wished him success in his new role, applauding the successful presidential election in Iran.

Latif expressed hope for strengthening bilateral relations between Tehran and Baghdad to secure the interests of both neighboring states.

Erdogan eyes strengthened cooperation

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his election as Iran's president, wishing him success in his new position.

He hoped that the election results would be a source of blessing for the Iranian nation.

The President of Turkey stated that Iran and Turkey's cooperation would be strengthened during the Pezeshkian presidency, expressing his pleasure to collaborate with Iran.

He also wished for the well-being and prosperity of the "friendly" and "brotherly nation" of Iran.

Pakistan hopes for ties to ‘grow stronger’

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated Pezeshkian on his election, hoping that the "fraternal" relations between Pakistan and Iran will "grow even stronger" during his presidency.

Zardari said, “My heartfelt congratulations to @drpezeshkian on his election as the President of Iran. Pakistan & Iran enjoy fraternal ties & I hope that under your leadership our relations will grow further stronger. Looking forward to work together for the peace and prosperity of the region."

The speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, congratulated Pezeshkian and expressed confidence in the consolidation of Tehran-Islamabad ties during his tenure.

“Mr. Pezeshkian is an intelligent, capable, and people-friendly politician whose election bespeaks the strong trust of the Iranian people,” Sadiq said, adding, “We are confident that the relations between the two countries will be further strengthened in the new period.”

Venezuela’s Maduro voices ‘absolute support’ for Pezeshkian

The Venezuelan government congratulated the people of Iran for their commitment to democracy in Friday’s runoff election, which resulted in Pezeshkian’s victory.

“The Bolivarian Republic congratulates the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the commitment demonstrated to the democracy of their country, expressed in the second round of the presidential elections held on July 5, 2024, which gave victory to His Excellency Masoud Pezeshkian as the new president of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Yván Gil said in a statement on his X account.

“Venezuela expresses its conviction that the decision made by the Iranian people will contribute to the prosperity of this nation, as well as its consolidation as an emerging power of the nascent multipolar world.”

Gil conveyed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s “absolute support” for Pezeshkian, emphasizing the desire “to continue deepening the fraternal relations between both peoples and in the comprehensive strategic alliance for mutually beneficial cooperation.”

Putin congratulates Iran's Pezeshkian

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Pezeshkian on his election as the new president of Iran, the Kremlin said on Saturday.

"I hope that your activities as president will contribute to further building up constructive bilateral cooperation in all areas for the benefit of our friendly peoples, in the interests of simplifying regional security and stability," the statement said.

Pezeshkian's presidency 'brings prosperity to Iran': Serbia's Vucic

In a congratulatory message to the president-elect of Iran, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic wrote that Pezeshkian's presidency "brings prosperity to Iran."

Gulf states congratulate Pezeshkian 

Saudi King Salman, in a message to Pezeshkian, expressed hope for the "continued development of relations which link our two countries and our two brotherly peoples," according to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

He expressed his wish for further "coordination and dialogue to strengthen regional and international peace and security," SPA said.

His son, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also affirmed his "keenness on developing and deepening the relations between our countries and people and serve our mutual interests."

In March 2023, Iran and Saudi Arabia signed a significant China-brokered deal to restore relations. Since then, officials from both countries have engaged in ongoing talks to strengthen their ties.

Similarly, the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, emphasized that Bahrain aims to foster excellent relations with Iran through cooperation and to enhance their ties, benefiting both nations and their peoples.

Recently, Iran and Bahrain have agreed to explore ways to revive their bilateral relations after strained ties for over eight years.

On his part, UAE's President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan wished success to Pezeshkian and said he looks "forward to working together to further strengthen ties between the UAE and Iran for the benefit of our two nations and peoples."

The emirs of Qatar and Kuwait also sent cables of congratulations to Pezeshkian, official media reported.

Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad Al-Sabah wished "more prosperity and development" for the Islamic republic, the official KUNA news agency said.

China's Xi congratulates Iran's Pezeshkian on election win 

Chinese President Xi Jinping extended congratulations to Pezeshkian on his victory in Iran's presidential runoff election, as reported by state media on Saturday.

"I attach great importance to the development of China-Iran relations and am willing to work with the President to lead the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership towards deeper advancement," state news agency Xinhua cited Xi as saying.

The two countries "have a long history of friendly exchanges, and bilateral relations have maintained healthy and stable development... for over half a century," Xi said, according to Xinhua.

"Faced with complex regional and international situations, China and Iran have always supported each other, worked together and continued to consolidate strategic mutual trust," he added.

"(This) has not only brought benefits to our two countries' peoples, but has also made active contributions to promoting regional and world peace and stability," he said.

China maintains a close partnership with Iran, being its largest trade partner and a major purchaser of its sanctioned oil.

Japan to continue proactive diplomatic efforts toward a stabilized Middle East

Japanese Foreign Minister Kitamura Toshihiro also congratulated Pezeshkian on his victory, hoping that under his presidency, Iran will play a constructive role in easing tensions and stabilizing the situation in the region.

Toshihiro affirmed that his country will continue to pursue its proactive diplomatic efforts toward a stabilized situation in the Middle East based on the traditionally friendly relationship with Iran while enhancing dialogues with Pezeshkian's administration.

South Korea expressed hope for 'improved bilateral relations'

The South Korean government congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his election as Iran's president, Saturday, expressing hopes for an improved relationship between Seoul and Tehran.

"We wish Iran a path of prosperity and development under the new government, contributing constructively to regional stability. We look forward to further enhancing our friendly relations with Iran," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, according to Yonhap.

Armenian PM expresses confidence bilateral agreements will be implemented

Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also congratulated Iran's president-elect, expressing confidence that "with the joint efforts of our governments, the agreements reached between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran will be implemented."

Tajikistan’s Rahmon invites Pezeshkian to visit country

Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon also wished success to Iran’s President-elect Pezeshkian and invited him to visit his country.

Uzbekistan's Mirzayev congratulates Masoud Pezeshkian

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shaukat Mirzayev congratulated the victory of Masoud Pezeshkian in Iran's 14th presidential election.

Mirzayev assured that during the term of the presidency of Pezeshkian, multilateral and long-term cooperation between Tehran and Tashkent will reach a higher level in all priority fields.

He also mentioned the continuous and effective expansion of cooperation in political, commercial, economic, transportation, communication, and cultural-humanitarian fields with Iran.

He described Iran as a country that has many potentials and capabilities that have been dynamically developing in recent years.

SCO Secretary-General wishes success upon the Islamic Republic

The secretary general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian for his victory in Iran’s presidential election runoff.

In his congratulatory message, Zhang Ming congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his election win as the new president of the Islamic Republic of Iran and wished evermore success for the Islamic Republic on the international stage.

The Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is committed to cooperating with Iran to ensure regional security and cooperate mutually for the further success of member states.

He wished well-being- prosperity, peace, and security for the Iranian nation.
