Yemen's al-Mashat addresses Guterres, condemns UN silence on 'Israel'
The President of Yemen's Supreme Political Council sends Antonio Guterres a letter denouncing the UN's inaction and bias toward "Israel".
The President of Yemen's Supreme Political Council, Field Marshal Mahdi al-Mashat, condemned the international community's silence over the Israeli genocide against the people of the region, in a letter addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, on the 79th anniversary since the international organization was founded.
In his letter, al-Mashat stressed the astronomical death toll the region has seen since the onset of the Israeli aggression last year and slammed the international silence and inaction, which he considered to be a contradiction to the United Nation's declared objectives since its foundation.
He further accused the UN of taking a biased stance that does not guarantee the end or the protection of civilians, while also jeopardizing trust in the organization itself. Further denouncing the UN's indolence, al-Mashat urged the end to the aggression against Lebanon and Palestine, as well as the declaration of "Israel" as a terrorist entity.
The letter reads as follows:
The 79th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations comes, unfortunately, in light of the genocide committed by the Israeli entity against the peoples of the region, which has exceeded 50,000 victims of Zionist massacres and tens of thousands of wounded, in light of a shameful international silence that contradicts the goals of the organization for which it was established.
The United Nations Security Council is taking an approach of increasing crises by taking a unilateral stance, instead of taking the necessary steps to stop the massacres against civilians. UNRWA has become unable to perform its duties for the same reason, which has resulted in the loss of confidence in your organization among the peoples of the world and will bring many serious repercussions on the region and the world.
We in the Republic of Yemen strongly condemn the inaction of your organization and the international community towards what is happening in the region, and at the same time we demand a firm stance to stop the aggression against the peoples of Palestine and Lebanon and to classify the Israeli entity as a terrorist entity.
This comes as the Israeli aggression stretches through the region, particularly in Gaza and Lebanon. Yemen had ignited the Red Sea front and declared its support for both Palestine and Lebanon, carrying out critical operations that not only economically exhaust "Israel" through the targeting of tankers heading toward the occupation entity, but also ballistic missile launches that crashed in deep occupied territories, especially Tel Aviv.
In September, Yemeni sources told Al Mayadeen that Yemen will not limit itself to a single target, reaffirming to "Israel" that occupied Yafa [Tel Aviv] is not secure, urging it to take the threat seriously.
They further revealed that Yemen is preparing for an extended war with "Israel" using multifaceted tactics, and is enhancing its strategic military capabilities with this long-term perspective in mind.
