The Yemeni Armed Forces later claimed responsibility for the attack, revealing for the first time the Yafa one-way drone. They said that it targeted an important target in Tel Aviv.
One Israeli was killed and eight others were injured in the strike that targeted a building almost 100 meters away from the US consulate, Israeli media outlets reported.
Following the operation, Israeli media said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu postponed his trip to the United States, where he was scheduled to address Congress.

Palestinian journalists noted that the explosion occurred on one of Tel Aviv's safest streets which is a highly secured area with additional air defenses.
The occupation army and security forces are yet to identify how the drone made it to its target without being detected.
Yemen's Deputy Minister of Information, Fahmi Al-Yusufi, told Al Mayadeen that the escalation against Tel Aviv "will lead to the military defeat of Israel."
Yemen is escalating its attacks infiltrating deep into occupied territories to subdue the Israeli occupation, Al-Yusufi added.
"Sanaa will not stand idly as the enemy massacres Gaza," he further stressed.
