Tens of thousands of Yemenis flooded the streets across various provinces on Friday in their weekly show of solidarity with the people of Gaza, amid the ongoing genocide and starvation siege imposed by the Israeli occupation. This week’s demonstrations were held under the banner: “Steadfast with Gaza, we escalate against genocide and starvation.”
A joint statement issued by organizers of the mass protests reaffirmed Yemen’s unwavering support for the Palestinian resistance in Gaza. “We stand firm in our support for Gaza until victory is achieved,” the statement read, warning of the catastrophic scale of the Israeli regime’s war crimes.
The statement condemned what it called “one of the most heinous genocidal crimes of the modern era,” calling on the peoples of the Arab and Islamic world to break their silence and take decisive, tangible action against the atrocities unfolding in the Gaza Strip. It also expressed full support for the Yemeni Armed Forces' operations targeting the Israeli occupation, which the statement said have “inflicted significant damage” on the enemy.
Demonstrators also praised what they described as “the historic resilience, immense patience, and heroic feats” of Gaza’s people and resistance factions in the face of indiscriminate bombardment and blockade.
Yemeni military targets Ben Gurion airport
The spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced on Friday that Yemeni forces had launched a high-precision military operation targeting the Israeli al-Lydd airport, or the Ben Gurion Airport, in occupied Yafa using a hypersonic ballistic missile.
Brigadier General Saree confirmed that the operation was successful, causing a complete halt to air traffic and forcing “millions of settlers to flee into bomb shelters.” He did not specify the extent of physical damage to the airport but said the strike was a direct response to the Israeli regime’s continued massacres and starvation policies against Gaza’s civilian population.
The military spokesperson stressed that such operations will continue so long as the Israeli occupation persists in its siege and assault on the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza.
'Remaining silent will bring shame and disgrace upon this Ummah'
"Remaining silent in the face of the daily massacres in Gaza will bring shame and disgrace upon this Ummah and will render it more vulnerable to its enemies than ever before, unless it rises to fulfill its religious, moral, and humanitarian responsibilities toward the oppressed Palestinian people," Saree emphasized.
He underscored that the YAF's operations will continue and will escalate until the Israeli aggression on Gaza is halted and the blockade imposed on the Palestinian enclave is lifted.
Earlier, the Israeli occupation military announced that its "air defenses dealt with a ballistic missile launched from Yemen," after air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and across large areas of the occupied Palestinian territories.
