A 20-year-old Palestinian detainee has succumbed to injuries sustained when Israeli forces shot him during a raid in the southern occupied West Bank last week.
The Palestinian Civil Affairs Authority confirmed the martyrdom of Musab Abdul-Munim al-Eida, who was critically wounded when Israeli troops stormed the Tal Rumeida neighborhood of al-Khalil on August 21 and opened live fire.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) and the Palestinian Authority’s Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, al-Eida was transferred to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in occupied al-Quds, where he succumbed to his wounds on Monday. Despite his critical condition, his detention at Ofer Prison had been extended just a day earlier.
The PPS and Detainee Affairs Commission denounced the incident as an attempted field execution, part of what they described as a wider pattern of extrajudicial killings carried out by Israeli forces. They stressed that al-Eida’s case reflects the ongoing escalation of “Israel’s” crimes in the West Bank, particularly amid the ongoing war on Gaza.
Other Palestinian advocacy groups emphasized that his death highlights the systematic abuse endured by detainees in “Israel’s” prisons. They noted that conditions of detention have been transformed into deliberate mechanisms of abuse, with Palestinians subjected to torture, starvation, medical neglect, and degrading treatment from the moment of detention.
Escalating Israeli violence in the West Bank
Since October 2023, over 18,000 Palestinians have been detained across the occupied West Bank, including hundreds of children and women. Reports from rights groups indicate that torture and ill-treatment have become routine, with prison conditions described as deliberately designed to inflict suffering.
Al-Eida’s death comes against a backdrop of intensifying Israeli military and settler violence in the West Bank. Data compiled by Palestinian health authorities and the United Nations show that since October 7, 2023, at least 1,013 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, including 160 children.
The first half of 2025 alone witnessed 178 Palestinian deaths and more than 2,400 injuries, with settlers carrying out 740 documented attacks, averaging four per day.
Settlers, often backed by Israeli forces, have carried out shootings, arson attacks on homes and farmland, and the poisoning of water sources. In many cases, these attacks aim to displace Palestinian communities and expand illegal settlements.
