Zelensky failed at being Western 'tool' against Russia: Lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says a certain head of "a very well-known Western country" among several high-level Western officials urged Russia three times via different channels to join the negotiation table to tackle the war in Ukraine and review the matter of European security.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is once again the subject of scrutiny for failing to do what the West expected him to do, according to Russia's Foreign Minister.
On Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov relayed that Zelensky failed to embody the role of the West's "tool" to sabotage Russian security, history, and culture.
During his visit to Belarus at a news conference, Lavrov said, "Certain difficulties are already arising both in Europe and in the United States with regard to the search for free funds to keep supporting Zelensky's regime, which has clearly failed to meet expectations, to serve as a tool to undermine Russia's security, to exterminate our common history, culture, and everything Russian on the territory that this regime continues to control".

According to Lavrov, one certain head of "a very well-known Western country" among several high-level Western officials, urged Russia three times recently, via different channels to join the negotiation table to tackle the war in Ukraine and review the matter of European security.
"You hear the assessments made by sober-minded politicians in NATO and the European Union. Better late than never. It is time for them to realize the complete futility of the war they started by the hands of Zelensky's regime against Russia," he continued.
'Chickening out' of negotiations
The West, specifically US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, were also called out earlier this month for having "chickened out" of talking to Russia.
RT quoted Lavrov as stating that both Borrell and Blinken left the OSCE Summit early as a result of being too afraid to engage in an open dialogue with Russia, as he told reporters that Blinken was "fleeing" from the event.
Lavrov further noted that some local media were attempting to cast a shadow over Russia by releasing a photo of summit participants with Lavrov seemingly absent, to try to convince the world that Russia is isolated over the war in Ukraine.
The month prior, Lavrov expressed that the West sees Zelensky's 10-point "peace formula" as the only peace solution for Ukraine even though it is absolutely "not realizable."
He indicated that "everyone understands" that Zelensky's formula is "absolutely not realizable," explaining that no one in the West wants to "seriously" show understanding for the crisis. Therefore, the diplomat noted that the issue will be "resolved on the battlefield," since this is what they wish.
He also added that Russia is ready for negotiations but will "not consider any proposals for a ceasefire," since if they do, that would mean Russia was deceived.
