Arsenal announced today, Friday, signing the Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard, from Real Madrid, for 30 million pounds, on a long-term contract until 2025.

Odegaard, 22, spent the second half of last season (2020-2021), on loan to the "London" team, during which he played 20 matches in all competitions and scored two goals.

Odegaard signed a 4-year contract, with the option of extending it for an additional year, but he will not be available in the match between Arsenal and Chelsea next Sunday as he awaits his travel visa.

On the signing of the Norwegian international, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said, "He is still young and with a unique talent, so I am happy to sign him."

Arteta added, “Odegaard enjoyed our loan period with us in the second half of last season, he made us better, and everyone saw what we did with Odegaard in the post-Christmas period."

It is noteworthy that Odegaard joined Real Madrid from Norway's Stromsgodst in 2015, but he participated in only eight league matches with the Spanish team.

He spent some time on loan at Heerenveen, Vetesse Arnhem, and Real Sociedad.
