Aston Villa Manager Gets Sacked After 5 Defeats
Dean Smith is the fifth manager in the Premier League to get sacked this season.
Football club Aston Villa sacked its manager, Dean Smith, after Villa was defeated five times, consecutively. The announcement was made on Sunday.
Although Dean Smith has managed to bring Aston Smith to the top flight in 2019, this season saw a fall in the club's performance, with Friday's 1-0 defeat at Southhampton being the straw that broke the camel's back.
Club bosses are not having it - Daniel Farke, the manager for bottom club Norwich, has also been sacked.
In a statement released by Villa chief executive, Christian Purslow said that "after a good start to last season, this year we have not seen the continuous improvement in results, performances and league position which we have all been looking for."
"For this reason, we have decided to make a change now to allow time for a new head coach to make an impact," he added.
The club also thanked Dean as they sacked him, saying "the board would like to sincerely thank Dean for his many excellent achievements, on and off the pitch, during this time."
