Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Another Champions League Record
Another Champions League match, another European record for Cristiano Ronaldo.
At the age of 36, Cristiano Ronaldo never ceases to amaze the world. His glittering career is filled with record-breaking achievements on every single level a football player could achieve.
So what is the latest milestone added to his long list?
The Portuguese player was part of the Manchester United starting line-up for the Champions League match against Villarreal at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
The match marked Ronaldo’s 178th appearance in the competition, breaking the record previously held by former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
This record comes in tandem with his other Champions League achievements as he is the competition’s all-time scorer with 135 goals.
To top it all off, the number 7 maverick is a five-time Champions League winner, and his 17 goals during the 2013-2014 League are the most ever scored in one season.
Scoring the winning goal against Villareal yesterday on the 95th minute marked an epic end to the record appearance, with Ronaldo scoring Manchester United’s second goal at the last second and breaking the tie that presided over the match.
