Elneny's Agent Hints Player's Support for Palestine Froze Talks
Egyptian star Mohamed Elneny's agent points out in a televised interview that his client's opinion on "a global event" in mid-May caused Arsenal to stop contract-renewal negotiations.
Mohamed Elneny’s agent Alaa Nazmi hints that "a global event" that happened in mid-May changed Arsenal's opinion on renewing the Egyptian player's contract.
In a televised interview, Nazmi confirmed that he and his client were in negotiations with Arsenal between March and May and were close to reaching a contract-renewal agreement.
However, "everything stopped following Elneny's comments on a global event last May."
Observers linked Nazmi's statements to Elneny's mid-May tweet supporting Palestine and occupied al-Quds, and assumed that the English club froze the contract-renewal agreement due to the player's stance on the Palestinian cause.

According to The Jewish Chronicle, Elneny's tweet angered some Arsenal fans who support "Israel."
In response, a spokesman for the club said, "As with any employees of Arsenal, our players are entitled to express their views on their own platforms."
