FIFA Fines Hungary Over Racist Fans Behavior
FIFA imposes bans on the Hungarian National Football Association after some Hungarian racist fans' behavior during Hungary's match against England on September the 2nd.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has fined the Hungarian football association £158,00 ($215,000) and imposed a stadium ban after Hungarian fans' racist behavior against England players filled the arena during the two teams' Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying match on September the 2nd.
According to FIFA's issued statement, some Hungarian fans have used racist slurs and actions against English players, thrown objects on the field, lighted fireworks, and blocked stairways.
The Committee decided that the Hungarian national team will play its next two home matches in FIFA competitions without fans.
FIFA assured that it "remains firm and resolute in rejecting any form of racism and violence as well as any other form of discrimination or abuse. FIFA takes a clear zero-tolerance stance against such abhorrent behavior in football."
