"Israel" women's basketball team competes in Morocco's capital
Following the signing of a so-called "historic" deal, the Moroccan women's basketball team competes against the Israeli occupation team in Rabat.
In continuation of the normalization acts with the Israeli occupation, a friendly match was held Wednesday in Rabat between the Israeli and Moroccan women's basketball teams.
The Moroccan Royal Basketball Federation had signed Tuesday a cooperation agreement with the Israeli occupation Basketball Association (IBBA).
The heads of the Moroccan, Israeli and international basketball federations, as well as Morocco's Sports Minister, attended the signing.
In a statement, the Moroccan federation described the deal as a "historic event", saying that it aims to develop basketball in Rabat and "Tel Aviv".
On Twitter, the IBBA said that “This is the first time an official delegation of the Basketball Association has gone to an Arab country to sign a cooperation agreement."
It is noteworthy that in April, Morocco, Bahrain, the UAE, and the Israeli occupation signed the so-called “Culture and Sports for Peace” agreement in Dubai.
Morocco was the fourth Arab state to normalize ties with the Israeli occupation in December 2020.
