Syria Honors Its Olympic Athletes
The Individual Games Sports Festival honors the Syrian athletes who participated in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
Syria honored its athletes who participated in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, during the Individual Games Sports Festival. The festival was organized by the Daam office in cooperation with the General Sports Federation in Damascus.
Manal al-Assad, the honorary president of the Equestrian Federation, honored the athletes Majd Eddin Ghazal (high jump), Maen Asaad (weightlifting), and Hend Zaza (table tennis).
In addition, al-Assad honored the Syrian national Paralympics delegation comprising Mohammad al-Mohammad (shot put and javelin), as well as strength sports athletes Noura Bodour and Fatima al-Hassan.
Artistic performances, as well as athletic performances presented by Syrian athletes from various individual games, took place in the honoring ceremony.
In a speech, the President of the General Sports Federation, Firas Mualla, stressed the importance of this ceremony in showing care and respect for these national champions.
For their part, the athletes expressed their happiness in attending this event and considered that it motivates them to continue their efforts and shine in any upcoming athletic tournaments.
It is noteworthy that Maen Asaad won the bronze medal in weightlifting 109 kg in the Tokyo Olympics, securing the first medal for Syria since the 2004 Olympics.
