One-fifth of Twitter users in the US produce 98% of content on the platform that favors the Democratic Party, according to a Pew Research Center analysis.
The analysis used data from the panel conducted in December, as well as Twitter API data from January 2022 to April 2023.
"A minority of adult Twitter users in the US continue to produce the bulk of the content. Since Musk’s acquisition, 20% of US adults on the site have produced 98% of all tweets by this group," the report said.
The report notes that 61% of the most active Twitter users are Democrats or Democrat-leaning. However, it was found that the average number of posts by those users has decreased by 25% since Elon Musk bought Twitter back in 2022.
Retweets are the most common type of tweets produced by Democrat and Democrat-leaning users. Meanwhile, replies are the most common type of tweets from Republican and Republican-leaning users.
