Paris Launches Military Satellite
France has launched its military satellite "A4" into the Earth's orbit.
Last Saturday, France successfully launched a satellite dedicated to military communications into Earth's orbit, valued at four billion euros.
The Ariane 5 rocket launched the A4 satellite successfully, 38 minutes after takeoff.
According to a spokesman for the French Air Force and Space Forces, Colonel Stephane Spit, "The Syracuse A4 is designed to withstand military attacks from Earth and space, as well as jamming."
It has the ability to monitor its surroundings, and it has good mobility that allows it to avoid an attack.
According to the French government's 2020 statistics, France remains far behind the top three nations in terms of military and civil space spending, with yearly investments of 2 billion euros (50 billion for the US, 10 billion for China, and 4 billion for Russia).
However, the A4 satellite allows France to stay among the world's leaders in space, confirming that Paris is deeply committed to the weapons race.
According to the Directorate General of Armaments, France will eventually have 400 stations capable of connecting with the new satellite from Earth, airplanes, ships, or submarines.
